How to buy Bluebird coffee
Howick is a Midlands village, not a coffee capital, so most people meet Bluebird through the post rather than over a counter. That has shaped how the business sells: the subscription is the front door, not an afterthought.

Roast dates matter more with a subscription than with a shop purchase, because the coffee spends days in transit. Bluebird print the date on the bag — the June box was roasted on the 2nd and marked best after ten days, which is honest labelling rather than marketing.
Brewing Bluebird at home
Bluebird lean towards clean, expressive coffees rather than dark and heavy ones, and the subscription mix makes that obvious: a funky Colombian ferment next to a washed Burundi next to a Rwandan honey is a deliberately wide spread. If you brew all three the same way you will only really taste one of them properly.
The DREAMER blend is the exception, and the one to reach for on a weekday. It is designed as a bridging coffee — forgiving enough for milk drinks and for the kind of grinder most of us actually own, mine included.
- Respect the ten-day note on the bag. A honey-processed or anaerobic coffee opened on day two will taste closed and gassy, and you will blame yourself instead of the calendar.
- Brew washed coffees like the Migoti Hill as filter first — that is where the red apple and honey character shows most clearly.
- Split a subscription bag: half for filter, half for espresso, brewed the same week. Comparing the two cups teaches you more about a coffee than three careful espressos ever will.
- Keep the DREAMER as your control coffee. When a new bag tastes wrong, brewing something familiar tells you whether the problem is the coffee or the grinder.
